Rocky Lake Road

Just before Powder Mill Park on Rocky lake drive there are a few trails ( 2 on the right / 1 on the left )

The 2 on the right of rocky lake drive - the one that leads into the right side came to a dead end/ We did not make it to the end of the left side.. that is for another day.

The trail that goes on on the left side of rocky lake road also came to a dead end on the rail road tracks.

IT was worth it to see the looped trees!

Captian Morgan Run - Martock

We found this one by chance.  This is why i love locals!  While we had plan on walk up the ski hill for a quick thrill down, we ran in to a fellow on his dirt bike.  He recommended this trail and pointed us on our way.  Now if u like walking up hill, this is perfect for you.  :) The hour to the top is well worth the 10 min rush on the way down.  The view is the bonus.  ( watch out for washouts! )  There are a few side trails that do lead to dead ends, we have yet to explore this fully.  IF you like downhill this is the spot for u.

Google Maps  ( as u can tell there are lots of trails leading up the mountain )

Head towards Martock ski hill in windsor. There is a gravel pit area on both the right and left side of the road before u get to the main parking. This is where we unloaded.

Next time , im hoping to make it up towards the lakes directly behind the ski hill :)

First & Second Lake & Sackville River

Personally I like to start at the end of Sucker Brook Road and loop around both lakes. Bonus : lots of parking.  ( see arrrows in map pic)  There are a few side trails off Second lake, be careful not to lose yourself  - they are nice and rooty with lots of baby heads. For the most part these trails are groom and are shared with foot traffic.   The offical name for this trail is the First Lake Glen Slauenwhite Trail

When ur done, you can enjoy a jump dip into first lake !!

If you are still feeling energenic after this , just ride down Cobequid Road to the Old Sackville Road and jump onto the Sackville_Bedford connector which will take down the sacville river and right to Dewolfs park/ Bedford Sobeys/Cove area.

 Just follow the green line.

The Sackville bedford connector has a few lovly spots in which u can soak up some river and bird watch.

Crystal Cresent Beach

Google Maps   Easy find.. follow the signs .
I think this picture speaks for itself!

Remember to ride safe and be prepared!

Old Sambro Road to Exibition Park

This Beautiful trail is in the Long Lake provincial Park. As of Jun 1st it was still to wet to make it through to Exibition Park. We made it 2.8km before we bogged out.

Directions :  This trail is off the Old Sambro Road. .. just past the Sussex St. 4 way intersection. There is a small parking area on the right.

Sambro side:

Exhibition Park:

NOTE: If you go into on this side beware of dog bombs.

Bedford Range

You can access this trail a few ways :

1  - by parking near the Bedford Place mall and biking up  / or you can park on the bi-high.   With your bike , find River Lane.  At the end of the street behind the dumpsters .. cross the stream and head under the over pass, after the pass  - hang a left - walk up the hill . On your right before you get to the service road , there is a small thrill loop with a few roller hills - Just make ur way back to the top of the service road. Most the trails are to your left in the woods.

You can also carry up the power line from the service road.  Spring time its pretty wet, and you will have to cross a river if you go to the left !  IF you stay to the right , this will eventully loop you down to Sandy Lake trails.

2nd way into this system is off the Bi Hi - 102 just past the bedford /sackville exit  (on your way to hlfx) There is a service road 1/2 way up the hill.  It is gated, but there is lots of room to park on the side.

3rd -service road - Directly acorss from the on/off ramp of the 102 on Hammands Plains Road.  ( see map below )

There are alot of little side trails here that will keep you busy for hours...

It is completely normal to see someone going on bike with a chainsaw and buckets.
:)

Shearwater flyer / Marsh Trail

This trail starts at Shearwater Base (with access points on Caldwell and Bissett Road) Bissett Road has tons of parking in the first field near the Cole Harbour / Lawrencetown Coastal Haritage Provincial Park.  If u stay right after this parking lot, it will take you out onto the salt marsh with the cool ocean breeze.

Great for hot summer days !  If you continure past the marsh you will end up at Lawrencetown Beach... keep going you will end up in near the 107 near Chezzecook.   IF you still have some ride left, you could head on to Bellefontaine Road and head towards Old mineville road and head tp Candy Mountain Road.

The Gorge ( Kentville )

The Gorge is worth the hour drive into the valley from the city. These trails offer everything from the novice to the professional ! You can find this if you follow the harvest highway ( 101) till you get to coldbrook exit. Take a right onto Park st. The gorge is located at the end of Gladys Porter Drive.

Keep an eye on this spot..
Dont stop looking - even in the 'off' season you might miss the Frostbite Downhill

MTBK

Wentworth

Another favorite spot .... (who am i kidden.. they are all my faves!) ...Across from Wentworth Ski Hill.  This is where u will find the "Big & little Thrill" & the Hostel Trails plus much much more. ..

Before you get to ski wentworth, there is Wentworth Station Road on your left. At the top of the hill stay to the left. It will take you past the hostal, and into a small parking area near the rail tracks.  YOu will have to cross the tracks. Look for a path on the left to gain access this will take u up a hill. Stay to the left of the field till you are at the top. The trails are marked and there is a little map posted to a tree. It splits off into 3 directions. One will loop around to the look off, the others will take u further into the system.

Google Maps

Karney Lake Trail

Some think this area is better left to hikers & their dogs.. but i beg to differ. This area has tons of trails, some maintained by the Maskwa Aquatic Club.  There are 2 enterences to this gem: one at the M.A.C . The other is at the end of Colins Road. They range from easy to expert.

PLEASE Use caution as its easy to get lost in the endless lops around the lakes.

Whopper Dropper

The whopper Dropper is a good access point to a few trails out behind Bayers Lake. (Chain Lake Drive)

This trail takes you up over some granite rockes with lots of hops & jumps.  To the left it leads out the power lines or u can flip over to the BLT trail system (near Governor Lake) Right will take u out towards Susie Lake.

To access the Whopper Dropper , look for the burger king on Chain Lake Drive - Directly after the Burger king, on the right there is a road that leads up into a parkin area.

Susie Lake (Via Whopper Dropper)

I would love to see a trail that would connect Fox Lake with the Karney Lake trails but looks like it would require alot of bridge building : )

Born To Ride

Colpitt / Flat Lake Spryfield Trail

This is one of my favorite places to ride. The area has been burned by a forest fire a few year back. Some of the peaks you can see for miles. The trails are not mark well, and u can easly find your self at Willams lake bringing home a christmas tree  !
